RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Punched Awake?

Certainly happened to me.

Now, I never seem to have nightmares. I'm not sure why but as far as I know, I have some "control" of my dreams. I forget the term for such an ability but that's not the case.

What the case is, is that I had one of the strangest experiences ever. I can't recall the full dream but the last thing I remember was getting a fist in my face, which literally shocked me awake. All I knew was that it was only 3 AM but I had this strange feeling in my body and mind. It was like awe and confusion but no fear. My heart raced and I could feel myself sweating yet what I felt was odd, as I never felt it before.

It was such a dream, that I'll probably never be able to forget it. Has anyone else ever had such an experience that was unlike any other and one they could never forget?
(Sometimes when I think about it, I can feel some remnants of the way I had felt when I suddenly awoke)

RE: Punched Awake?

i was being eaten by talking dolphins once...that was one fucked up dream.

And when i was in psychology, we looked up symbols in dreams and every time i looked at dolphins it said something nice about the cheeky bastards...never found anything relating to my dream so idk what the fuck was going on

Punched Awake?

That happens to me alot too. The dream has a lasting physical effect on you, even when you wake up. Once a girl hit me on my back with a red rubber ball, and it jolted me awake, leaving me very confused and freaked out. (I was actually in class when it happened.)

Punched Awake?

I did go back to sleep. Right back to my crazy dream world.

It's a shame I still don't know who punched me, because if I get my hands on him...

Punched Awake?

That's called a lucid dream, being able to have some control. ^-^ You're lucky you can do them, I've always wanted to be able to lucid dream...

Punched Awake?

It can be a strange experience sometimes. Once I had a dream that I woke up in the morning and did my usual morning routine before going to school. Then I woke up to my alarm and was pretty damn confused, took me a while to realize I was dreaming(at first I thought I had taken a nap after getting ready but realized I wasn't wearing my school uniform).
