RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The Feelings Are Getting Out

What's your saddest time in life where you just broke down.Make sure everything you say puts you in tears as you're typing it.I hope this post turns the SS forums alive again. My parents have fought for a long time when I was a child. One night when I started to get use to it I went to bed.I was almost 12 starting to realize it has lasted for almost ten years.I felt unloved almost that night.

Congratulations humanity, because you refuse to let go of the old and evolve you actually make people believe in 2012. Not only that, but you're the only species on Earth that were able to make it possible, now we get to sit until we die because we couldn't get to Mars. We have failed as a society and don't deserve our gifts to survive for this long. Maybe this is why dinosaurs are extinct, we sure aren't any better than the dirt you say we're created from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...DvwSOFto#! Noo

None for me, really. For someone who lost their mother to cancer, I wasn't crying or anything. Hell, I loved my mother, but the sorrow and shock didn't hit me until months later.

RE: The Feelings Are Getting Out

the only time i remember crying over something not related to skool was when my ex had found out about me and this slut she knew and i don't know why or anything, most likely it was just the fact that my ex actually cared about me enough to pray for me, but i ended up crying...i'm not crying while i write this though because i am actually over it now and realized it was a stupid choice for something to do when i was 14 (almost 15) and i still wonder why i cried about it sometimes.

RE: The Feelings Are Getting Out

Yes, the worst thing that happened to me did make me cry. Accually cry hysterically. It was when my dad died. It was back when I was 5 and I was unsure if the idiot (my mom) had anything to do with it. I still tear up to this day when I think about it. Not nearly as bad as my dad dieing, but the idiot not ever loving me and only wanting to hurt me has made me really sad. And when she told me that she shouldve gotten an abortion made me cry. And whwn she had tried really hard to hurt me and I knew she desperately wanted to hurt me. But I can think back on the good times I had with my dad, and he loved me. I was lucky to have him in my life, even if only for 5 years. Most people never even meet such a great person in their lifes. I got to have him as my dad. I wish he was here, now I am crying :(

Cheer up! You can't hang on to the past too much, or you won't be able to get to the future. By all means, take all the time you need to get over your problems, but they shouldn't be the focus of your life forever.

The Feelings Are Getting Out

I didn't cry for the saddest event of my life. Maybe it was because I was to young to understand it, maybe because I didn't want to believe it.
All I can do now is hope that nothing ever happens that can top that experience, because if I can live the rest of my life without feeling the immense sadness, betrayal, and loneliness, that would be a miracle.
Everyday though, recently has been getting more and more difficult to find the reason for me to keep pressing on, but than again, life is very difficult and confusing.

If you live for anything, live to piss off the people who hate you and you hate, not to mention the ones who love you and who you love. And also remember this: friends come and go, but enemies accumulate.

I agree. I've had a friend since my first year of school. I was so innocent then. So happy with the world. Then, the shroud of school attempted to cover my eyes, but I pulled out my knife of truth and opened my eyes to the truth of this world. Anyway, since the first year, I've never looked back. We have been friends since, though I'm struggling to remember why...

The Feelings Are Getting Out

I have family are supposed to be close to me but aren't. I'm much closer to my real friends actually. Reality doesn't set until late unfortunately.

Ok, there's plenty of reasons we are friends. I just can't be bothered naming any of them.

I am not close to my family either. I live by myself, its a long story, if you want to know it go to the thread "surviving this year". But I am not close to any friends because I dont have any. But I am VERY close to my guinea pig, I even let her share my bed! Seems like I get along better with animals much better then other people!

Happy 275th post! So you can't be that ugly right? Seriously though you might want to get a dog that's potty trained.

What does being ugly have to do with guinea pigs? And I am not ugly, just really dirty, but I cant help not haveing a shover so I have to either go outside and hang this portable shower thing that I fill with water and let heat up and just shower in an alley (witch is fairly common to do) or try to sneak into somewhere that has public showers. So I only shower a few times a month. I might get a dog. Would be great if I could get a big dog who is loyal to me and would protect me from gangsters.

The Feelings Are Getting Out

When my grandmother left the world at age 88 almost two years ago.

88? Well at least she lived a good long life. And she is somewhere better now.
