RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Internationalization of the Amazon
Who the fuck thought of that?
Seriously, The Amazon are on OUR borders, not yours. Don't like my response?
Go fuck yourself. You shouldn't have destroyed your own florests and now beg to have a share of the land.
What do you think? It should be internationalized, or just belong To Brazil? (And other countries that have the Amazon in their borders)

RE: Internationalization of the Amazon
Brazil should own the majority of it. And then Peru and Colombia can have the little parts in there country I guess.
I don't know why it's internationalized...I don't know much about the issue. Care to inform us?

RE: Internationalization of the Amazon
The fuck? I've honestly never heard of this before. While I think it's fucked up that it's just gonna get taken from Brazil; if it's protected under some kind of international treaty it would be a very good thing for it. Not saying Brazil shouldn't be compensated for it or that it's right to steal from them but I think the best interest of all humans would triumph the property of a sovereign nation.
I don't know anything about this though. Also, It should only go through if Brazil agrees to it.

RE: Internationalization of the Amazon
No, it's still on our borders. It's just that we make a good job in protecting our florest (Sometimes IBAMA, the organization charged for the protection, do a shitty job on it) and other countries, that possibly destroyed their own florests to improve their economy, and now want a piece of the land? Hell no.It should be only be internacionalized if Brazil agree to it, and countries that have a share are PROTECTING the florest.

The Amazon forests should belong to the people who live in them. Like, the tribes and the locals. Fuck the government, fuck the corporations.

RE: Internationalization of the Amazon
You and I both know what's going to happen. Unless if some self-righteous celebrity throws a concert to save the Amazon and all of it's greatness, most of it will be logged within a century. I'm going to the western fringes of your country in a few months to work with the natives, but if we want to save the lush, primeval forests, something needs to be put into action now.
If you're reading this, I killed myself.

Agreed! Time for some monkey-wrenching!
