RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

I cbf with this good game anymore. Takes too much time and fucking rage when I travel across all of Skyrim and game crashes. Fucking bugs and needs more autosaving. Fuck this I'm playing MW3, at least that doesn't crash once.

I guess I stand up because I'm used to whiners bawling about killable kids mods.

Also todd howard is a huge faggot.

I just posted that whole nude mod thing to start a big shitstorm. LOL.

Level 61 Argonian here.

I have level 100 smithing, enchanting, alchemy, illusion, heavy armor, and block. about 5 days of gameplay, and a full set of Daedric Armor with dual daedric daggerz with both shock and frost enchantments. And yes, I'm a consolefag. Suck it. Suck it long and hard.

I haz over 40k in LOADSEMONE!!!1

...My secret?

Hidden stuff:
Alchemy. Level it to 100, take any perks with it, even use enchanted items which overpower the alchemy potency rate (level 100 enchantment can help you too with creating these items but it takes forever with running back and forth and filled soul gems are costly cause I cant be arsed to hunt down animals myself but the end product of enchantment can be used to sell it for a fair price, but probably will result in net profit loss than what you started with. Also, Fuck Todd Howard or whoever made it so you cannot entrap human souls within soul gems.) A single 3-part ingredient group poison costing 6 gold (depending on speech and barter skill) can be turned into 1000 gold minimum. Potions go for 500-800 gold each and you can make em for about 10 gold ingredients.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

I actually seriously started playing last weekend, made it to the frost troll part of the 7,000 steps side quest where you take food to the old dudes who live alone and shout at each other when it crashed.

Yay! I torrented skyrim and it works great, but I'm having a problem with certain mods.
I really want to get the character editor (from nexus) to work so I can make lightsabers, but I will follow all the steps, and it gives me an error message whenever I type bat save_edit.txt in game. Is there some other program I need? Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

No, this is Patrick.

Try the nexus mod manager. It automatically takes care of problems with mods.

Only hardcoooooooooooor fans play this now. Razz

Last play time: 15th Feb here, gotta delete game.

It's so boring I didn't even finish main quest(got to beards and had to go to some cave + lots of sidequests) or get to whiterun with my thief on second game.

There was a video on youtube depicting a bunch of awesome mods the skyrim crew made a week after the release with things like being able to mount dragons and being able to yell into a mic to activate shouts.

I was like: "WTF! WHY AREN'T THESE IN THE ORIGINAL GAME!?!"

It only took them a week for these kick-ass mods, and 5 years for the whole game. And guess how much time they spent beta testing it? 0 hours.

Yep..

A guy released a mod and is working on it now that makes skyrims combat more like dark souls and its bringing a bit of flavor to skyrim(well that deadly dragons, wars in skyrim, warzones civil unrest and some mods to fix the derpy combat system).

Wish obsidian could do fallout 4 but beth fucked them up the ass so now we'll see fallout 3 part 2..
A damn shame..

Whats going on with that? So is fallout now back in the hands of bethesda?

EDIT: Fallout with the skyrim engine would be really neato.

I thought bethesda was known for spending lots of time testing their games....
Of course when I say testing, I mean recreational playing and somehow still missing tons and tons of game bugs that are patched later, then the patches cause more errors that the modding community has to fix.

Oh you bethesda...

To be fair, they did a pretty good job with this one. Sure its still buggy and there are a few obvious spots of laziness but overall I would say its a huge improvement from the other games and at least they didn't pull a MW3.

As for Skyrim getting old, its and RPG what do you expect?

Also what I meant was skyrim has shitty uninspiring fetch quests with writing that made no sense and unmemorable characters was a step down from new vegas in everything.

Also its funny that you mentioned MW3 as skyrim feels like a Michael bay film to me.

I can agree with that. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my axe of whiterun, axe of windhelm, and bazillion other quest weapons.

I think bethesda just wanted to fill the game with a bazillion quests to increase playtime and keep the gamer busy rather than improve content.

As for a step down from new vegas? I don't agree with that.

And to be fair, I don't think obsidian did a much better job. The major problem is they used the same buggy game engine that bethesda used for fallout 3 two years later. Besides the barely changed combat system and different weapons, it looks just like a deserty fallout 3. This is probably the one reason it didn't get over 8.5. Skyrim at least looks neat-o and the faces aren't severely messed up.

graphics aren't everything but I guess we don't see eye to eye man(Oh well it happens).

I agree the engine is buggy but thats not their fault and by difference I mean this.

skyrim or fallout 3 never had this kinds of moments.
