To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Hey, can I get some help?
Hey, I'm new here and I just need some help.
I'm a freshmen, and I can not stand school. my dad understands - but I'm only a freshmen and I don't know what my options are
I need to get out of here so bad, but I don't know what my options are..
Online homeschooling is expensive I heard - and he's not going to spend a bunch of money
on this. So please I'm desperate, please help me out.

Ah, sorry you guys I was a bit eager..
I am fifteen, I live in U.S Illinois
And what I need to know is; is there a way to get out of school at fifteen/freshmen year
and somehow get education from home at around same price? perhaps a online school that isn't super expensive and actually legit.
And what would happen if a kid was not schooled at all, how much trouble would his/her guardian get in for not supplying education.

You need Adobe Acrobat installed to read the first.
So here's what we have:
Compulsory school age is 6-17. No big deal.
Teacher Qualifications: None. Meaning, your dad doesn't need any special certification to qualify as your teacher at a home school. Good news.
Standardized Tests: Not required by statute. Bonus.
Now theoretically you can start home schooling at any time with no legal requirement to notify the local school board or state. Quote:It is highly recommended that you give the public school a dated letter (keeping copies for your records) that states you will be withdrawing your student to place him/her in a private school. Such a letter indicates your intent to continue your student’s education and will make it less likely that the school reports your student to county officials as truant after a prolonged absence. Home-schooling organizations provide samples of this type of letter.
It is good to keep records, however fake they may be, of what you are doing and learning in case the state asks for proof from your dad.

Yeh, seems this is one of those "pretend to be homeschooling when you're actually doing whatever you want".
Basically just dropout. :/ Do whatever you want at home. Learn whatever you want. You're dad doesn't need to jack, and it costs nothing.

I', sorry I can't help much. Australian laws are different from US ones. Maybe look at some of the articles on this site aimed at convincing parents to let you be home schooled/drop out.

Nice info, Whistler...
So your dad understands, but would he be OK with you learning stuff on your own? That's by far the cheapest option, and probably the best too. It's just the hardest one for most people to accept as valid.
I dunno if you want to go to college or not... but if you do, you might be able to go earlier. Here's some info on that (scroll down a bit to the middle of the page).
