RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Re: Whats the hardest decision you've ever had to make ?

While I was in primary school there was this huge kid who was a year older than everybody because he had to move back a year because of his stutter. I was about a head smaller than him and he always liked picking on me because I am a nerd. Yep, there I said it. I could fix the school computers when I was about 7 and the teachers couldn't figure it out. Everyone else regarded me a very smart guy in a good way. He would always taunt me. Then I snapped after a few years and I learned karate and I had him cornered eventually. He rushed at me and I dodged. He was a huge kid so he went straight towards the wall at 10 miles an hour. My decision was to either grab him and swing him round for him to avoid the wall or kick him straight into it. I'm glad to say I swung him round.
He never bothered me again.
By the way, if someone is pissing you off, learn karate.

Kudos on kicking his ass aha , what you did i strongly support , i mean teachers do nothing , parents will just tell the teachers who will do nothing , so really kicking the cowards ass is the only way to solve it.
Thanks for the input Smile

It took a few years for the karate bit but worth it.
Teachers will tell you shit like this.
"well, if a boy is being mean, you just go up to him and say don't bully me today, I dont feel like it."
Parents are ok but still not what we need.

Re: Whats the hardest decision you've ever had to make ?

My hardest decision was to say fuck to the school and do shit my way, because I am risking an "Life with pleasures, great job and a family"(according to my parents).

Also, Ozone51, good thing, that you kicked that fuckers ass. He got what he deserved.

Re: Whats the hardest decision you've ever had to make ?

For some reason I can't think of any particularly hard decisions I've ever made... stupid ones, sure... but they didn't seem all that hard at the time.

Recently the banning of AWOL and Rex was a semi-hard decision... but I wouldn't want to say that's the hardest one ever, because that'd be kind of sad...
