I kinda know about the Middle East though I'm limited.

But yes, Brain needs to post his walls of texts about this.

Pfft, aint no wall. Maybe.

Basically, the AKP pushed a bunch of bullshit to get Erdogan the power of a single executive position i.e President which would technically give him significantly more power. The referendum for the new constitution also introduced some stuff that sounds nice like younger age limit for MPs(18) and expand the number of MPs. Plus some other nice sounding laws that are more like frosting on a shitpile.

The executive will not only be head of government and head of state, he'll also have the ability to retain party leadership(thus control the party he is a member of). Ministers will be more easily chosen, the president can declare state of emergency, and can suspend parliament.

Basically, he's consolidated power in the executive branch, taken control of the judicial branch(with his overarching power to move judges around without waiting for parliament to get involved), and has cut down the power of the parliament significantly especially if the ruling party is his party. Throw in the fact that his supporters are as mindless and idiotic as Trump supporters here in the US, and you've basically got a government being run by an authoritarian on a whim and who has guaranteed his position by getting rid of any threat parliament could pose to him as long as the AKP remains within the 40%+ control spectrum.

I personally didn't vote. If I had, I'd say no, but it seems like there's already reports of voter fraud being investigated so it's not like it'd matter. Plus, my hands are full with Trump here in the US. It's fun being a dual citizen of two countries run by egomanical lunatics bent on greed and corruption and supported by a rabid crowd of stupid fucks.

Brain I'm gonna assume a number of those said egomaniacs live in your neighborhood.

10 bucks says Le Pen and AMLO win their elections respectively.

French elections can be tricky. They've had times where one candidate looked like they were doing good in the first round, then got utterly crushed in the next round.

Yeah they have that weird run off because they're a multiparty system.
