WTF: Here lies our brainwashed parents - Roboka - 09-03-2013 12:18 AM

Welcome to my daily forum series. As usual, we will be discussing the overall idiocy of our corrupt education system. Anyway, who has a parent that supports school? One? Two? All of you? Not very surprising. The school system has the control over both brainwashed children and adults. In fact the entire adult community has been rid of intelligence. And it does not end with liking school. No, they have turned teens and kids into stereotypes. They say we have been ruined. Who raised us? The adults. Who teaches us? Adult teachers. Seeing a pattern here? Adults themselves are to immature to admit that their bad methods of raising the next generation have backfired and caused us to be born In a bad world. But they say technology and video games are to blame. Okay, so they are not the greatest things in the world. But who created a cycle filled with one hour periods of boredom locked in a prison? THEY DID. And now the adults that actually try hard to make us happy are being fooled. Damn it!Noo So today, I just wanted to honor the years where we all had intelligence. Where we were not judged by tests of our brain, where our knowledge was not given to us yet shadowed through meaningless worksheets, and when we were treated like angels. The toddler years. As sad as it is, age 5 was probably the best time of my life. Me and my friends created stories that we had a role in and we got the chance to use our imaginations. It was so fun. And I learned more in those years than in my entire life. I swear I am going to get those times back.

My mom is a total bitch about me doing my schoolwork and getting A's. She's strict about me getting that holy high school diploma. I even told her about GED, homeschooling, and democratic schools, but she just ignores those. It seems that she sees no other way of doing things other than passing public school. I basically have no control or say in my life choices or even small choises. All I can do is be pissed off and complain. If there was some way for me to stand up for myself and take control of my own life, I'd jump at it. If there was someone who could defend or save me, I'd be inviting and grateful. I have goals of being a great writer/musician/video game designer, but high school is not doing me any favors or helping me. My mom thinks that since I'm "just a kid" and she's the mother and the adult, she's the smarter person and should make ALL the decisions concerning me. She always has to be right. Something needs to change...

You could try to file for emancipation. That'd give you the legal freedoms of an 18 year old at a younger age, though in the US the law governing it varies state by state(some just need you to file it, others want some reasons and a whole process behind it)

Some states, like mine, you need to be either married or in the military. Which you need to be 18 to do. So, it's just a catch 22 to make emancipation impossible.

In NJ it isn't really clear. Most cases usually involved abuse or neglect, so that's what the courts here follow for emancipation(and you can start only at 16).

And like sub says, in some states it's just a load of BS -_-
You'll need to just do your research and hope your state is a bit more liberal when it comes to such cases.

I read the laws for Florida. It says that the parents need to initiate the emancipation petition. And my mom probably won't initiate it... I hate feeling stuck and powerless.

I wonder who thinks up these requirements. It's like telling a citizen of a dictatorship that if he wants a more free country, to ask permission from the dictator.(Usually meaning said person ends up dead, dying or either/or in jail)
