"Have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of your life" - Marauder - 03-20-2013 06:15 AM

It really pisses me off whenever I hear this about a person who dislikes school. But what really got me today is when I heard a teacher say about a student. We were in global and my teacher noticed some writing on a desk. It said fuck school. Sure the student shouldn't have wrote on the desk (According to the school at least) and then the teacher said to my other teacher "Haha this kid will have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of his life" You do not know that kid. Maybe he/she even has terrific grades and still just hates school? and sure, maybe not. Just because the person hates school does not mean he is going to end up a bum or someone with a bad job. Just look at Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney. All dropped out of high school to pursue their dreams. Yes its not likely you will end up like them but I know many fine people with great jobs who did not finish high school. I'm just sick or being called stupid or other people being called stupid because of this damn stereotype.

Is it me or have I seen this thread before and replied to it?

Yeah. That one actually caused me to write this. I saw that and remembered what happened today.

Possibly one day many years in the future:"Hey, you said I'd be working here because I wrote Fuck School. By the way, I'm currently CEO of McDonalds, and you're fucking fired. Have fun not having a job because we don't hire haters."-The student to the ex-teacher.

People may want to be careful with their assumptions...

Heck, I wouldn't even mind being manager of any given McDonald's restaurant. I'd reserve the right to deny service to people who'd claim I'd be working there.

Do you know how much a McDonald franchise costs? They want a minimum of $750,000 that ISNT borrowed and from your own personal account. They also take a deposit and a bunch of other stuff.

Forget working at McDonalds, just owning one will probably make you rich.

Not liking school != performing badly on it. Lots of people seem to make that mistake. And the "working on McDonald's forever" thing is just stupidly cliche.

I should become Valedictorian then in my speech say "FUCK SCHOOL!".

Let's see what the school says then(other than possibly suspending me, which in my mind means mandatory vacation)

My dad likes to say this to me because I've pretty much dropped out.

He brags about graduating highschool early. But I can't even remember the last time he had a real job. His last real job, he was a fucking janitor! He's such a hypocrite..

You are all my new best friends. Sorry teddy bear.

I can just picture how he'd say that to you.

"HA! YOU DROPPED OUT AND NOW YOU'RE GOING TO GET A MINIMUM WAGE JOB THAT I CAN'T EVEN GET! AHAHAHA!"

Pisses me off. McDonalds isn't the only low skilled, minimum wage job out there.

Yeah I shouldn't have directed it just at mcds. It is what the teacher said but my dad is a custodian for a school and supports our 4 person family just fine. Im not saying go and shoot to be a janitor but even some of the lower end jobs are enough.

Enough for a 4 person family? A school janitor is one of the "low-end" jobs with better benefits. I doubt a legit McDonalds job could support that without government assistance.

Stand up with pride and say "No! I will not be a McDonalds employee. I WILL BE A GARBAGE MAN!"

A garbage man actually makes more than a teacher, fun facts.

RE: "Have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of your life" - Alucard483 - 03-24-2013 03:29 PM

Actually, so do the dishers where I work. $10 an hour, a free meal every shift, and overtime nets you not only time and a half but a steak dinner too.

Most garbagemen aren't billionaires.

"Have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of your life" - brainiac3397 - 03-24-2013 06:16 PM

Well most -insert job- aren't billionaires either. I was pointing out that it's possible to hold a job people consider "bad" and progress far enough to become a billionaire.

Not bad... where do you work?

The chance of that happening? Slim to none. It's much easier to just, you know, graduate high school. At least then odds are that your lifetime earning potential will be higher.

As high as getting hit by a car while celebrating your billionth dollar?

"Have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of your life" - Ky - 03-25-2013 08:28 AM

^ That scenario reminds me of the pilot to a TV show that was popular five years ago.

"Have fun working at McDonald's for the rest of your life" - thewake - 03-26-2013 03:25 AM

That would be the height of irony, especially if you made your money through making safer cars.
