Abstinence Program - ModestMusic - 10-10-2010 01:36 AM

Who do the schools think they are fooling? No teenager isn't going to fool around with someone because suddenly they remember a health teacher a few years back told them not to do something. Sexual education is key to making sure that we are safe about things and making sure that we are properly prepared! The just say no antidrug program so obviously failed and now they are trying to cram as much drug information into our heads as possible. What makes them think just say no to sex is going to work?

Please, if you disagree, post a comment with your views because if you could get me to see the other side of my argument, then first period might just suck alittle less for me

Re: Abstinence Program - psychopath - 10-10-2010 02:28 AM

Sex education is pretty retarded, maybe it's only good for introducing some terms and showing how sex works to kids that don't know anything about sex, but other than that all you need is the internet rather than all the brainwashing bs school shoves down your throat.

Re: Abstinence Program - AWOL - 10-10-2010 02:45 AM

I wish the first thing they said to all guys the moment they enter the classroom for the first time could be this;

'Remember, it's a vagina, not a piece of meat you're trying to tenderize'.

Srsly, you're ruining it for all the guys that come afterwards.

Also, abstinence is stupid and Ceiling Cat can go die in a hole.

Cracked.com for the win indeed, and also it's pretty true. Lol at the Jeebus comment.

Re: Abstinence Program - itsurgrlcass - 10-10-2010 03:19 AM

when they tell you not to have sex (then tell you where to buy condoms) its not because they think anyone is going to seriously listen to them, but they do it for theyre own sake.
like 'well, we tried. we told them not to and we warned them, so no one can point the finger at us when they get pregnate.'
in reality, i think they dont give a rats ass if you have sex or not. they just need to clear their conscience and get paid Smile

Re: Abstinence Program - AWOL - 10-10-2010 03:24 AM

Actually, they're required by law to do it. And most of them are Christians who won't even hint at options other than abstinence.

And if they do, it's to damn them to hell.

Re: Abstinence Program - ModestMusic - 10-10-2010 03:28 AM

True true! All of you make good points. I guess it would still be nice if they could have us go buy condoms as homework or somefink along the lines of that...
ideal scenerio it would enable:
"What the hell are you buying"
"Its for school dad. If I dont do this then I wont get an A, and if I dont get an A I wont have a 4.0 and get into a good college"
"Oh, okay"

Probably just a good bout of wish thinking...

Our school is the one in the district still clinging to the remaining shreds of the once district wide abstinence policy

Re: Abstinence Program - KittyKatBlack - 10-10-2010 03:29 AM

I remember the sex-ed teacher telling absolute lies to us. Not only did she tell us that condoms didn't protect against AIDS at all, she told us you could get AIDS from tears. I wish I could go back and tell her how full of shit she was.

Then, canonically speaking, you're going straight to hell.

Then again, so is everyone. Including Christians.

Because let's face it. The New Testament is a load of shit.

I think that if one were to take all the moral laws from every religion, everyone would go to hell (Yes, I realize some contract others from different religions)

Cass- That was binder worthy

Re: Abstinence Program - CrayolaColours - 10-10-2010 04:27 AM

This thread is...interesting.

Just a warning, a lot of people on SS get pissy with Christians, because apparently the free expression rule only works here if you're expressing what everyone else is. Well, I guess you could say they're free to express their distaste for a certain subject, but it still manages to get on my nerves.

Anyway, yeah, a lot of these teachers do this because the state says it's their job. The way I see it, they're just making a living like everyone else. I may disagree with their profession, but oh well. "Abstinence" Isn't doing anything for anyone. Besides, teaching that SEX IS BAD YO, really makes a lot of people want to do it more. So they're only screwing themselves over. What they should be teaching is how NOT to get pregnant.

Re: Abstinence Program - ModestMusic - 10-10-2010 04:47 AM

I'm not against the poor teachers that must teach the criculum to be paid, just the fools on the board who though that abstinece was the right choice. The teachers should be free to expess their point of view as well as teach by the book.

I have noticed that in this site's quest to achieve freedom of speach, the minoities do tend to get spashed, but that is just what happens on a website such as this, when many people who agree come together

Re: Abstinence Program - Jesusaurisrex - 10-10-2010 05:14 AM

I thought this said "absinthe program"

Ima make that now

True, I mean, some teachers are just unnecessarily bitchy. But it's pretty easy to tell the "I'm doing this so I don't get fired" type from the "I do this because I R ALL POWERFUL MUWAHAHAHA" types.
And people will typically leave you alone about it if you leave them alone. (In other words, a fight will break out if you start preaching and telling everyone they're going to hell) Laugh

In Christianity's defense, that's what the whole Jesus thing was for, from what I remember.

Yes, but it was as bullshit as Dragonball GT.

And towards Modest; I didn't mean all religions. I meant just Christianity.

Re: Abstinence Program - DragonDusk - 10-10-2010 04:51 PM

Ah sex ed, how I had fond memories of that class. It was the dumbest thing ever. But the strange thing was under all that "DONT HAV SEXX OR U GET AIDS AND PREGGERS UNTILL U R MARRYED AND FOLLOW ALL THE LAWS LOLOLOLTROLLFACE!" crap all I heard was "Okay kids, have at it as long as you have a condom!" Isn't the whole point of the class to stop kids from bumping uglies? I even heard that in the high school they even try to see which condom brand is the best. (And no, it does not involve endless fucking) Ah well, it doesn't matter. Tons of girls at that high school get pregnant anyways and anyone of those boys could be the father. Besides, abstinence never works anyways.

AWOL: why single out christianity?

Re: Abstinence Program - AWOL - 10-10-2010 05:04 PM

Because most religions don't damn everyone to hell.

Disregarding the New Testament because it's false. Purely and totally. Non-canon. Does. Not. Matter.

Not really, we don't silence anyone, we just tell them to get fucked. See, they can also do that back. SS is the ultimate freedom of speech.

Re: Abstinence Program - AWOL - 10-10-2010 05:07 PM

It's like an anarchist's claim of freedom. Most of the time it's bullshit and not actually freedom (of course there are reasons for this, but moving on). Here it's complete and total freedom.

No religion in history has caused as much violence as Christianity.

I've heard there are actually organized groups of christian anarchists.

Re: Abstinence Program - Rebelnerd - 10-11-2010 04:33 AM

How can an anarchist be Christian? Isn't Christianity an inherently hierarchical religion? You submit to your priest or pastor, to the laws of the Bible, and to God. Whether or not God exists is irrelevant; you can't pledge obedience to any kind of "higher power" and call yourself an anarchist. That's not to say that Christians can't be a force for good in the areas of social changes (look at Martin Luther King Jr or Oscar Romero, for example), or that they can't work together with anarchists against common enemies, but they themselves are not anarchists.
