Animal Farm by George Orwell - LOON_ATTIC - 12-16-2010 12:57 PM I'm reading it for my English class. BEST BOOK EVER filthy commies get out of my lawn Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - vonunov - 12-16-2010 01:31 PM Animal Farm is only interesting once. I don't know how the English teachers stand it year after year. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Thought Criminal - 12-16-2010 01:45 PM Its a pretty good book. The ending was great. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - aaaaaaasd - 12-17-2010 01:35 AM I found it to be pretty neat, but everyone else went OMG TIS BORING WHENS PROM LOLOOLOLOLOLOLO Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Sociopath - 12-17-2010 06:45 AM ProfessorVonStrangle Wrote:I found it to be pretty neat, but everyone else went OMG TIS BORING WHENS PROM LOLOOLOLOLOLOLOBecause there aren't any sparkling vampires Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - LOON_ATTIC - 12-17-2010 03:07 PM Not so with my classmates, most of them really like the book. This, any story with a twist can only be enjoyed once, and appreciated after. But English teachers love to destroy good texts by overanalysing them. Dracula FTW Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Rebelnerd - 12-18-2010 01:23 AM 1984 was better, but Animal farm was good. The painfully ironic thing about it is how he tried to take the story of the Soviet Union and make it as simple as possible (farm animals. seriously), yet most Americans still miss the point entirely and think it's a satire of "communism." Whenever I see some retarded Teabagger yelling about how Comrade Obama is turning America into Animal Farm, I'm never sure whether to go up and tell him that all of Orwell's books were basically Marxist, anti-Stalinist propaganda written by a dedicated socialist...or just stand there and laugh/cry. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Sanjuro - 12-18-2010 01:27 AM I have teabaggers, our town is overrun with them. I am an anarchist/socialist *not the whiney lets burn shit kind* If America was Socialist, we'd be in a way better place. Just look at post right wing Sweden! I read it because it was assigned in prison. The teacher announced what the next book was going to be so I went to the library and got a copy and read it that weekend. And then the teacher got all pissed at me, here's what happenededdd. We were assigned to read chapter 1 and then do a worksheet and the worksheet was like "wat du u tink wil hapun nekst?" and I was like, teacher i already read the whole book so why do i have to do this shit, and she goes, "Why did you read the book already! You were only supposed to read chapter one!" wtfbitch. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - ~Mystery~ - 12-18-2010 03:52 AM Fuck Marxism, Marx just wants to provoke the proletariat to fight the rich endlessly since there will always be stratification. Facism <3 works better. Since instead of fighting it encourages the rich and the poor to be united under a mutal pride for their Countries culture. If the dictator is bad then there won't be pride and if there is no pride its not Fascism. Dictators are super valuable because in Democracy and socialism everyone is always whining about who can gain the most personal power and very little gets done for the nation. IE Business in Capitalism sell out and move to foreign Countries instead of supporting their local culture But because Fascism is more stable that means instead of people bickering about who has power they actually start to put their time in bureaucracy inventions and science. Creating a greater reward for those participating in that culture. So there can never be fascism. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - aaaaaaasd - 12-18-2010 03:58 AM I read ahead in english classes and often get to the end of books before we are meant to. Instead of the teachers praising you for being a good reader they scold you for not following their grand plan. This is why school brings mediocrity. psychopath Wrote:This, it is exactly what mine does, she told me to write the path of every single character and a list of figurative language or some shit over break. Fuck it, I'm just reading the book. And while reading she always stops and asks "what type of imagery are we using?" "what kind of figurative language is that?" etc. At least she isn't that bad and the people in my class are decent.Jack Wrote:Animal Farm is only interesting once. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Prince Rilian - 12-18-2010 03:04 PM Yes i hate the analysis shit. You're just putting labels, not really getting any new information. my literature classes in high school, they would always show a movie of the book after we finished reading it. And then we did that with jurassic park and then the teacher was quizzing us on the movie instead of the book fucktard. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - Psychoqueen - 12-28-2010 12:31 AM I enjoyed the book, although I couldn't stand all the analysis crap we had to do in English. Re: Animal Farm by George Orwell - ~Mystery~ - 12-28-2010 09:13 PM O mi god I just remember how bad I had it with this book (christian Private school) not only did we have to overanaylyz but we had to create a character web of all the traits each animal had. 20 sheets in total I remember staying up all night. I was 14 at the time mind you |
