Food stamps? Wtf

- akdonn - 01-04-2008 04:37 PM

Thunder:

Food stamps = welfare

The implication is that poetry doesn't normally provide enough $$$ to pay for basic expenses.

Oh. I thought it was a poetry pun.

True love is when love is the only reason you want to be with the person. Like... you have no expectations or requirements from that person (like money, sex, kids, being handsome/pretty, whatever). You just love them for who they are, even if they change.

What's the difference between love and herpes?

Herpes is forever.

But seriously, I think before you understand true love, you have to understand love in general. People think your love for your family, for your friends, and for your partner is totally different. It's not, love is love. Love is being ready to do anything for someone, and trusting they'd do the same for you, because you have made such a strong connection with their consciousness, it becomes part of your own. That's what love is.

Well said. Doing "anything" for someone is fine as long as it doesn't go against your principles though. But then if you were that close to someone, they wouldn't want you to do anything that went against your principles anyway. And if they do... something's wrong somewhere. I guess that's how you know.

my definition of love is being no one but yourself and having someone love you for it and you loving the other person for what kind of person they are. the only way to find true love to just be yourself! otherwise, you´ll just find someone who in love with the person you´re pretending to be.

Thank you man...
It annoys me when I watch this little shows about the guy acting perfect to win this girls love...
Fooling the parents with a false show of perfection.. Hell people who I'am not saying who say that you will never get married if you don't act a certain way to me. If a person isn't willing to accept you.. warts and all then screw them....
Nowadays I don't see alot of happy marriages... Just a bunch of retards who buck heads over bullshit and they take things to seriously.

love is a feeling that we get with certan chemicals in the brain that react to sounds and images we see,i e women/men,food,ect.

so all love is true in a sence, but i dont beleve in "true love" like marrage and soul mates and shit like that

- akdonn - 01-06-2008 11:44 AM

I think "true love" is unconditional love. It is very hard to have a relationship in which the other person loves you regardless of your flaws or difficulties. Usually, over time you either work out the differences, or the love falls away because it is not unconditional.

I didn't mean like drinkers or a women beater or something like that...
I mean if the guy isn't a intellectual, isn't prince charming or doesn't come from a well off family..
Damn I done even lost myself,,,

- youvebeenthunderstruck - 01-06-2008 05:08 PM

That isn't too hard to accomplish.

- randyhart - 01-07-2008 12:02 AM

No one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

Basically looks you don't give a shit bout em

Agreed. It's rare, but it's possible. So if you do happen to find it... consider yourself fortunate Smile

Quote:No one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

Very true. That's the problem with most relationships with people you don't know very well - you end up idealizing everything they do, until one day you realize they're not as amazing as you thought they were. So... don't go for people you don't know. Unless you like disappointment Razz

- SoulRiser - 01-07-2008 03:13 AM

I think that unconditional love also takes time to grow... it's not a "love at first sight" sort of thing. Sort of like this:

Passion is the quickest to develop, and the quickest to fade. Intimacy develops more slowly, and commitment more gradually still. - Robert Sternberg

- Araris - 01-07-2008 04:50 PM

I think that Unconditional love, and true love are two different things.

True love, contrary to false love, lasts forever. That doesn't mean that you can't love someone else, but the love never dies. False love is usually another word for passion or lust. Both can lead to true love, but it still isn't to that degree.

Unconditional love, is the love of someone for who they are. Regardless of what their opinions are. Regardless of their religion. Regardless of their race. Regardless of their looks. And in the end, regardless of whether or not they return your love.

The reason that I don't think that just saying that 'true love is growing old together' or 'true love is loving one person, and one person alone always' is because fate is unknown. The one you love could die. Now, true love would mean that person is always in your heart. They never lose the affection you had for them. But that doesn't mean you can't love again. Love itself, is endless. You can never give enough, you can never deplete your resources of it, you can't ever be unable to love. So if a shortcoming were to happen to your love, than I think that you can experience love for another person again.

More so, I think you can experience both True, and unconditional love again.

- akdonn - 01-07-2008 05:09 PM

I think you are mincing words; love has many dimensions but they all spring from the same place.

I believe that there's more to the brain and mind than chemicals, because if there weren't the entire universe would be set from the moment it began(explosion, developement of life, everyone has set reactions because chemicals have set reactions). Chemicals always react certain ways, and vary for the situation. Humans can react differently

- Guest - 01-22-2008 02:16 AM

All love is true.

- SoulRiser - 01-22-2008 05:09 AM

But not everything that people claim to be "love" really is.

- akdonn - 01-22-2008 11:30 AM

SoulRiser:

I agree! It is really easy to say "I Love You" when you are after something but it can quickly turn into "I Hate You" when you are trapped in a situation that you want out of. I've seen it over and over again, and the worst part of it is when innocent children become victims because of it.

All Love is definitely not TRUE Love.

True Love doesn't exist but Love does.

- Avenger - 02-06-2008 01:00 PM

i just realized true love is just the american term for love that succeeds or when 2 people love eacthother and they stay together until they die.take for example if me and my gf stay together til we die people would say it was true love, but if we broke up people would say it's not really true love, which in fact in both of those situations the love was the same.so kirby is right true love does not exist,in my view it's just a term for love/relationship that works out and lasts til u die or the other person dies.

- SoulRiser - 02-06-2008 04:28 PM

So by that definition, Romeo and Juliet had "true love" because it lasted til they both died (about 3 days).

A very strong bond

- akdonn - 02-08-2008 05:24 PM

Oh, I shouldn't be cynical but sometimes I can't help it...when we have these young people in our school who become what you might call "infatuated" with each other. It is kind of fun to watch as they come in to do their work, and have their hands all over each other, and talk goo-goo talk, and sometimes I have to tell one or the other that they need to allow the other to do their work. You know, they really should be doing that stuff somewhere else, but they often don't have anyplace else to go--the temperature has been minus 10 degrees to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit here for the last few weeks. Some of these kids are very very poor or homeless.

Then the other extreme happens; they come into conflict and break up with all kinds of acrimony. It can be sad, but it is part of life. I've been through the cycle a few times in the past, but on February 14 (Valentines Day) my wife and I will be married 18 years!

I never would have believed it would last this long when we first got together.
