"All new music sucks" - Sunbourn - 02-20-2009 01:12 AM I don't understand this. Why do people say all new music sucks, when they don't even bother to look past the mainstream charts? I find new stuff I like every day, and most of my favorite bands are from the 90's and 00's, and none of it is from the mainstream. People just aren't looking hard enough. Re: "All new music sucks" - MM - 02-20-2009 02:33 AM Good post. People see the pop music bullshit on the radio and MTV and automatically think all of it sucks, when, while the pop music sucks cock, there are much, MUCH better bands/music that aren't getting the recognition they deserve, because they don't conform to the popular standards. Re: "All new music sucks" - Hanny - 02-20-2009 03:20 AM YOUR FACE. Re: "All new music sucks" - Sunbourn - 02-20-2009 03:25 AM Hikari Wrote:YOUR FACE.Thank you for the intelligent reply. Re: "All new music sucks" - random_name - 02-20-2009 08:42 AM i like new music - rock, pop and metal. Re: "All new music sucks" - classclown - 02-20-2009 11:02 AM its mostly old folks who say that. at least here it is. which is funny cause lots of people get there inspiration from older music. Re: "All new music sucks" - Bob Dole - 02-20-2009 03:09 PM Honestly, I kinda have to agree that a lot of the mainstream new music sucks. Though, I think that's mainly because of how tangled the music business is with the actual making of music, which is a goddamn mistake. Artists are the ones who are supposed to be creating music, not some goddamn record executive with only profit on their mind. Another big thing I'm seeing is how record companies seem to like to choose completely cookie cutter music without any sort of message or innovation behind it. Rap, for example, is a fucking amazing medium for many artists expressing discontent with our current society and government. However, you never hear any of these artists unless you specifically seek them out. Record companies only sponsor rap artists who rap about the same goddamn things and manage to demean the genre as a whole, thus taking the sharp social criticism out of rap music. Honestly, there is shitloads of good music still coming out, it's just due to shitty businesses getting in our music that it sucks. No doubt you've all heard of Lil' Wayne, but what about Sabac Red? Immortal Technique? A quick comparison. Lil' Wayne: Quote:[Lil' Wayne talking] Sabac: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU13xgSOH4w (I couldn't find the lyrics, probably due to laziness). Rap is the best example I can think of, but there are other genres this shit is happening in. There are still good artists, but they're being passed up for cookie cutter shit. Re: "All new music sucks" - MM - 02-20-2009 03:18 PM THANK YOU. Mainstream hip-hop doesn't actually show how good rap really sounds. While it is slightly dying, there are artists you mentioned (Immortal Technique, along with many others) that make excellent music. People think, well, the rap I hear on MTV and the radio sucks dick. Well, that may be, but that doesn't mean every form of rap sucks dick. The most talented artists (in any genre, really) are usually the ones under the radar and no one really knows about them. Re: "All new music sucks" - Jackass McAwesome - 02-20-2009 03:57 PM Holy ass crack, dude. I'm listening to more of there songs as I type this. These guys very easily rap what we want to sew. Re: "All new music sucks" - Freak - 03-06-2009 12:10 PM I think it mainly has to do with the fact that most bands are very rock. Rock has the biggest fan base, with the exception of Johnny Cash there are pretty much no huge major artist that you'll remember 30-40 years later unless their a rock band. |
